The best household management apps.
Updated
“Household management” is four jobs: chores, money, a calendar and lists. Best for chores: Sweepy or Tody. Best free family calendar and lists: Cozi. Best for splitting costs between people: Splitwise. Best all-in-one, with one subscription for everyone: We Both.
Pick by the job that annoys you most. If it is all four, one app beats four.
We Both puts money, bills, chores, the calendar and the shopping list in one app, and one Premium subscription covers everyone in the house.

The short list
- Best all-in-one: We Both (money, bills, chores, calendar and list in one app).
- Best free family organizer: Cozi (calendar, lists and recipes, free with ads).
- Best for chores that repeat: Sweepy.
- Best for cleaning routines: Tody.
- Best for splitting costs between people: Splitwise.
- Best family hub with a budget: FamilyWall.
The apps, one honest drawback each
Prices come from each app’s own site or App Store listing, read on 2026-10-11. Drawbacks are what reviewers say, or the app’s own limits.
- Cozi. Best for: a shared family calendar, shopping and to-do lists, and a recipe box. Costs: free with ads. Cozi Gold is $39 a year and removes ads. The App Store listing says Gold also adds events more than 30 days ahead, a month view on mobile and more reminders. Drawback: reviewers complain about the calendar limit without Gold, with lines like “Not paying just to have the ability to plan 30 days ahead.”
- Sweepy. Best for: a home cleaning schedule with repeating chores. Costs: the App Store lists $3.99 a month or $19.99 a year, with a 3-day trial. Drawback: reviewers say it charges for a lot, including “adding someone to your family costs extra.”
- Tody. Best for: household cleaning routines. Costs: free for one person, with no ads. Premium is $9.99 a year, and sharing with your household needs Premium+, from $25 a year for two people, per Tody’s website. Drawback: reviewers complain about the price, with lines like “Premium price jump with no real changes makes it silly.”
- Splitwise. Best for: splitting costs between friends, roommates or partners, with balances and settle-up. Costs: free to use. Splitwise Pro is an in-app purchase listed between $2.99 and $39.99 on the App Store. Drawback: it does money only, and reviewers complain about a daily cap on free entries.
- FamilyWall. Best for: a family hub with calendar, lists, messages and location. Costs: free to start. Premium is $7.99 a month or $44.99 a year, after a 30-day trial. Premium holds the budget tool, the meal planner and Google and Outlook calendar sync. Drawback: reviewers say it is called free but key features are paid.
- We Both. Best for: a household that wants money, bills, chores, calendar and list in one app. Costs: free to start. Premium is one subscription for the whole house: $9.99 a month in the US, less on the 3-month plan. Limits: iPhone only (Android is in early access), no bank sync, no splitting between people (the house shares one pot), and no kids’ accounts (13+).

Where We Both ranks, and where it does not
We Both is the all-in-one pick, not the best at every job. For a pure chore chart, Sweepy and Tody are more focused. For splitting costs with balances, Splitwise does what We Both does not: We Both tracks one shared pot and has no “who owes whom”. For young children with their own accounts, Cozi or a kids-focused app fits better, because We Both is 13+.
Where it fits: two or more adults who share money and chores and are tired of five apps, who want one subscription for everyone instead of paying per person.
Leaving Cozi? Read the Cozi alternative guide →How to choose
- Count the jobs. One job, use the focused app. Three or more, try an all-in-one first.
- Check who pays. Some apps charge to add a person. A household plan should not.
- Check the free version on your real week, not the feature list.
- Do not pay for features you will not open. Keep what the free tier does and add Premium later if you miss something.
Questions people ask
What is the best free app to manage household chores?
For a family calendar and lists, Cozi is free with ads. For chores, Sweepy and Tody are both free to download, with paid plans. We Both has free chores with no points or scores, assigned to anyone and repeating on a schedule.
What is the best app to manage household expenses?
To split costs between people with balances, Splitwise. To keep one shared ledger for the house with bills, budgets and what is left this month, We Both.
Do I need one app or several?
Several focused apps do each job well but you pay and sync each one. One all-in-one app trades depth for having everything in one place. Either is fine if the whole household uses it.
What are the limits of We Both?
It runs on iPhone, with Android in early access. It does not connect to banks, does not split expenses between people, and has no kids’ accounts. You type or say your spending.
