A Honeydue alternative with no bank logins.

Updated

If Honeydue keeps losing your bank connection, We Both is an alternative that never asks for one: you type each expense (or say it, with Premium), so nothing can disconnect. The trade-off is manual entry. We Both has no bank import.

If you want transactions to appear on their own and are fine linking your accounts, stay with Honeydue. It is free, according to its help center.

We Both gives the house a shared money ledger, bills and budgets with no bank logins, in return for logging spending by hand or voice.

The choice: bank sync or no bank logins

Honeydue connects your accounts so transactions show up without typing. Its security page says it needs your bank login to do that, and that the login details are stored in a separate database operated by Plaid. That saves effort, and it means your budget depends on that connection staying alive.

We Both makes the opposite choice. No bank logins, nothing to connect, nothing to fail. You log an expense by typing amount and category, which is free and has no daily limit, or by talking to the assistant or snapping a receipt, which are Premium. The cost is time: if you will not enter spending, this will not work for you.

Why people leave Honeydue

In 1 and 2 star reviews of money apps, Honeydue has the most complaints about bank connections. Reviewers write things like “Accounts won’t stay connected, while they add features nobody cares about like AI” and “It disconnects from my bank account all the time.” Others say “Reached out to support multiple times but I never heard back,” and “Household member invitation won’t send.” These are what reviewers say, not our testing of Honeydue.

Only the first of those is solved by not linking accounts. Whether a new app’s support answers or its invites work is something to try in the first week.
